Associate Professor Su Xueyun from East China Normal University Gave an Academic Report

On the afternoon of November 02, Associate Professor Su Xueyun from the Department of Education of East China Normal University was invited to give an academic report to our college teachers and students at the Tencent conference. The report's theme is "Preschool Inclusive Education for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder-From the Perspectives of Children's Characteristics and Needs". The meeting was presided over by Teacher Wang Zheng, Dean of the Department of Preschool Education. More than 40 teachers and students from the college listened to the report.

Associate Professor Su Xueyun discussed the subject from three aspects: the first involves the connotation of integrated education, the definition of integrated education, the objects of integration, and the conditions of integration, the meaning of integration, and the research and practice of integrated education indigenous and abroad; the second aspect is to understand the children with the autistic spectrum, and the eight aspects of the autistic spectrum children's perception characteristics, behavioral characteristics, motor ability, social adaptability, play ability, and social interaction were discussed in depth; the third aspect is the support for integrated education of children with closed spectrum disorders, she points out that integrated education requires support from family, school, society, community, and self, and further elaborates on the three aspects of the psychological environment, curriculum and evaluation, and reflection on practice.

The report is rich in content, combined with theory and practice, and vivid cases. It provides suggestions and directions for further research in this field. The report is full of respect for the world's diversity and care for children with autism spectrum disorders.

In the Q&A session, Associate Professor Su Xueyun answered the students' questions patiently and meticulously. Our teachers and students benefited a lot.

Su Xueyun, Doctor of Education, Associate Professor of the Department of Education of East China Normal University. Postdoctoral fellow at the Child and Development Research Center of the Department of Pediatrics of School of Medicine in Georgetown University, and a visiting scholar at the Early Intervention Department of the School of Education, University of Oregon. He also serves as the second executive director of the Preschool Education Committee of the Chinese Education Society. Member of the International Early Intervention Association, Member of International Assisted Communication System Society. She is one of the winners of the Huangpu River Talent Program. Her main research areas involve early childhood assessment and intervention (family education and guidance), 0-3-year-old infant development and education, and integrated preschool education. She has published more than 30 academic papers in core journals (including SSCI and CSSCI journals) and five monographs. She has edited a series of "Early Intervention Series for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder" (ten books) and participated in editing five books. In addition, she has translated three books, including “Development and Education of Gifted Child (Second Edition)" (Beijing University Press 2016), "Infant Early Intervention" (East China Normal University, 2016).
